ROBERT WILLIAMS SHOW ENDING JAN 23

Another favorite artist in whom I find much inspiration, Robert Williams, has a show ending Jan 23rd at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in NYC. Why Robert Williams you may ask? Mr. Williams' work retains the wild creative abandon and rebelliousness sorely missing in art today. Williams has stuck to his guns for years and is the ultimate bohemian artist. And he's one articulate and skilled mofo. Yes, his work may offend some, but it's WHAT Robert is doing that makes him so special. Much respect and love goes out to him for following his vision without wavering for so many years. Tit and ass have never been so inspiring.

AWESOME KANDINSKY SHOW

If you're in NYC head over to the Guggenheim and check out one my favorite artists, Kandinsky. It's a "must see" show and ends Jan13th.

Kandinsky started drawing and painting in his 30s and decided to pursue art rather than careers in law or business. Influenced by music and spirituality, he came up with something never seen before. This Russian dude had balls bigger than St. Basil's Cathedral.

HEADING TO CALIFORNIA

My web store and Etsy shop are closed as I prepare for my cross country move to Los Angeles on December, 1st. The shops will re-open in a week or so when I'm settled.

The last 4 1/2 years in Providence, Rhode Island have been incredibly challenging to say the least. Because of my experiences there, I'm leaving stronger and more positive than ever. More on that later. Anyway, I've wanted to live in California and do the art thing there since childhood so it's about damn time! This move is easily the riskiest thing I've done in my life as I'm laying it all on the line in the name of Art. If the world ends in 2012 at least I'll be going out doing what I love and hopefully that inspires a few along the way.

I can't never stop working hard....I've got to keep pushing myself...

Grenade Bunny Sculpture Process - Pt. 3

The prototype, primed and looking good. Still a few more tweaks to me made but I'm very happy with how it's turning out. Most likely grenade bunny will be packaged in a mini weapons crate-like cage to emphasize the military/bunny concept. I'll post more pics when available. Be sure to join my mailing list for information regarding the pre-sale so you can reserve one. Like my prints, the edition will be very limited.

Grenade Bunny Sculpture - Process Pt. 1

I'll be releasing a limited edition sculpture of my grenade bunny in time for the holidays and thought I'd share some process pics with you.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

So...I've got this laptop that a client gave me as a partial payment for job. Because of that I've decided to blog. Often. Very often, in fact. So much that you can expect lots of art updates, random silliness, and occasional essays on theoretical physics.

Lots Going On

It's been a while since my last post so an update is in order. I finished up a few new art prints but have been too busy to post them and do the html email thing as of late. New stuff will be out in the coming weeks so watch the blog and your email.

This spring and summer so I'll be doing a bunch of craft shows in Rhode Island and Massachusetts so I've been busy registering, and preparing for those. It'll be great getting my work out there and meeting new people.

During the month of May you should see the release of the first of some paintings I'm working on. And if all that stuff isn't enough, I'm making my return to hip hop & rock poster design so if you're in a band, hit me up and perhaps we can work together!

Peace, Rich.

ON SALE

Speaking of shirts (my last post), yesterday I created an ON SALE section in my Web Store where you'll find a bunch of discounted apparel.

1,000 Garment Graphics Book

A designer friend of mine just emailed to congratulate me on having seen my stuff in a new book called 1,000 Garment Graphics: A Comprehensive Collection of Wearable Designs. I haven't seen the book yet but at 320 pages there's bound to be some good stuff. Many thanks to Jeffery Everett for busting his ass organizing the project and designing the book. He deserves a medal for the amount of hounding he had to do for my submissions alone. I truly appreciate being included and can't wait to check it out.

THE SIGHT OF SOUND : GROUP SHOW 2009

It's been a loooong time since I've done a group show so I dusted off some old and rare screen prints for a music themed art show here in Rhode Island at Machines With Magnets. The show opens this Friday, March 6 and is up until March 27, 2009. Among my work is a very rare, framed, complete set of Jurassic 5 posters from eons ago.
